One of my FAVORITE session in a long time was this one with Jennifer and Michael. They are the most relaxed, laid back, in love couple and they were completely open to anything I wanted to do. Jennifer had the MOST perfect little baby bump and I was DYING to use my newly purchased maternity posing gown. She wore it perfectly and I am so in love with the amazing portraits we captured. Little Apollo will be so loved by these two and their amazing extended family members, I just can’t wait to meet him. He’s due pretty soon, so be on the lookout for his newborn portraits! I hope he inherits mom and dad’s calm, laid back nature! 🙂
Every Year, I take my kids to a park to do some back to school portraits. I do it BEFORE the first day of school, because I am always WAY too busy the first day to remember to grab my camera. We’re too busy figuring out that morning routine and getting everyone off to school without having to worry about mom, the photographer, trying to coax out natural looking smiles! I always open up these back to school portraits to my clients as well and this year we had two families join us! Thanks to all who came out and I pray for a GREAT year of learning and friendships for everyone heading back to school!
(If you missed out on Back to School portraits but would like to do something similar- just let me know, we can schedule a session just for your munchkins too!)
Meet Micheala and Morgan- two sisters ready to head back to school and celebrate the end of summer! They are some of the most caring and sweet girls you’ll ever meet and photographing them was a joy. We jumped, we laughed, we got sandy… it was a blast. I love photographing all different kinds of portraits but tweens and teens are some of my favorites and these two did not disappoint. 🙂 Thanks girls for being such great models, you both are so beautiful and amazing and I hope you never let anyone tell you differently!
Jacky Boy is ONE! What a great year it was for him. I so adored watching him grow and he gave me a run for my money on a few of our sessions (TWO teeth broke through the day after his six month session and the day afer this session we found out he had an ear infection!) but we always managed to capture his awesome personality! I LOVE his adorable faces he always showed and when he giggled and laughed for me… HEAVEN!
Thanks so much Raaf and Claire. It was an honor photographing your family this past year. You are doing a wonderful job raising such an amazing your man. I can’t wait to see your family grow (hint hint!) in the future!
I just got back from a whirlwind trip to Ohio visiting my family. We visited five different sets of grandparents and great grandparents!!! It was a whirlwind trip! I don’t get to spend enough time with any of my family but when I realized it has been almost THREE years since I have visited with my maternal grandparents, I knew I needed to make trip home. My grandfather just had his knee reconstructed and my grandmother has been suffering from dementia for years. Every time in the past I have visited, she has been having a “good” day, but I know that dementia is slowly stealing her from us and I really wanted to spend some time making some new memories with her!
I am so thankful that once again, we visited while she was having a “good” day. We laughed and had so much fun. We had a great time there, even got stuck out on the lake when the motor died on the pontoon boat! My grandmother was having a GREAT day; we had some wonderful conversation and made some wonderful memories. She didn’t get confused or upset once during our visit! She so enjoyed her great grandchildren and I loved watching them together. I pulled out my camera to capture some portraits before we left. They were casual and not planned (note the lack of matching clothing, makeup, etc) but it was more about capturing the love we share with eachother and not the “perfect” portrait. I am so glad to have these images and will cherish them forever!
“There’s no place like Home, There’s no place like Home!” Michelle and Levi have loved their time in Virginia Beach with the navy, and I have so enjoyed getting to know them, BUT to them, HOME will always be Kansas. This was a bittersweet session for me as it is our last before they leave to head home to Kansas.
I love Michelle and Levi, Tommy, Noah, Evie, Maddie and little Willow… they have been with me almost since the start of my professional photographer career. This will always be one of my very favorite images I did so many years ago!
Then fast forward to today- two babies later and lots of changes! I am so proud of you both. I know life is a roller coaster and you’ve been on many ups and downs, but you have never given up on each other. I hate that you are moving but I know you can’t wait to get to Kansas and I pray for many many blessings to rain down once you arrive!
Thanks so much for allowing me to become a part of your family. I pray all the portraits we’ve taken over the years will hang in your new home and you will forever be reminded of your Virginia Beach home and family. You are the clients I cherish. The ones who come to me year after year, milestone after milestone. You have blessed me so much and I am so thankful for you. You are an amazing family and I will miss you terribly! 🙂
I have known Ninon for years and love this lady so much! In the past few months, I have gotten to know her husband Pen as well and simply love them as a couple! They have so much love for eachother and I love the father Pen has become to little Aiden!
Although technically they are married (they just couldn’t wait to be married so they did a quick Justice of the Peace ceremony) they are still planning their actual wedding for next year. So we of course had to so some engagement shots for their “Save the Dates” and to celebrate their love and connection.
We headed down to the First Landing beach and had a glorious time! I love how comfortable they both were in front of the camera and with each other. They truly love each other so much and it shows through every time they look at each other. It was such a blessing to be a part of capture their love and I can’t wait for their wedding!
As a small business owner, I know the importance of presenting yourself well. As social media becomes more and more prevalent, people are able to “see” you much easier and they want to know who it is they are working with. Professional portraits or head shots are such an important way to present yourself well to the world!
That said, meet Imani, my latest business portrait client. I met Imani at a networking meeting and we hit it off. She realized she really needed an updated business portrait. I was also so excited to hear about her business and I am SO very thankful for people like her doing what they do! Her business is called Inner Vision Concepts, LLC. It is created to assist women to find and/or refuel their purpose and passion so that they can walk out their destiny fearlessly, inspired and victoriously. Mo matter what their past has looked like, they don’t have to be defined by it. Rather, they can use it as a learning experience to propel them forward into their bright futures! For more information, Imani can be reached at imani.harris@live.com.
This world is full of difficulties and it’s so important having people like her working to make it a better place. Thank you, Imani, for doing what you do! I pray success for your business and blessings to you and your clients!
I love this family! While I have only been in business as a professional photographer for four years, I have been photographing families for over a decade. This amazing and adorable family was one of my first families when I first became a professional. And they didn’t take it easy on me! They hired me to photograph their ENTIRE family…four siblings with all the kids…I think there were around 25 of them! No easy feat but I did it and have loved keeping in touch with all of them over the years. So I was overjoyed when Beth and Chris contacted me to capture some more family portraits!
A family of seven with FIVE girls means there is LOTS of personality! So thankful to Dad, Chris, who just moved where I said and smiled!!! 🙂
Throughout the session we made sure to capture Jada a bit more than the others as she is about to graduate from High school! We captured some amazing shots of this natural and kind-hearted beauty!
This family is EXACTLY why I do what I do! I hate it when I photograph a family and never hear from them again after their session. I know that living in a military town, this is bound to happen when families move away, but it always makes me so sad! I want to capture my families over the years and see how they grow and change! I love being invited to the birthday and graduation parties and celebrating life with you! Last time I photographed this family, at least one of the girls were still in diapers! To see them all growing and becoming their own amazing little people is what keeps me going! Beth, thanks for trusting me again to capture your family. I’m so proud of you! Caring for all those girls and your handsome hubby isn’t always easy, but to see you now all these years later… you’ve done good!
I love that my little ones are growing up so fast! Mr. Jack is nine months old now!!! Wow, time is flying. Soon we’ll be celebrating walking and turing one!! Check out some of my favorites from his session.
